In January, Ken Meter, president of Crossroads Resource Center and a leading expert on food systems in the United States, released his report, Hoosier Farmer? Emergent Food Systems in Indiana. This report, commissioned by the Indiana State Department of Health, addresses the question, “What is emergent in the Indiana food industry that most defines a new future for food?” I confess that I have not yet read the entire publication; however, the research and interviews that I have read are informative and thought provoking. If you are interested in Indiana’s food system and its future, I would recommend giving Ken’s study a look at http://www.crcworks.org/.
